How to Check Your Board Result Online & by SMS — Complete Guide

Student checking board result online on a mobile phone — how to check your board result online and by SMS

Every board result in Pakistan — matric or intermediate, any BISE board or the Federal Board — can be checked through three official channels: the board's website, its SMS service, and the result gazette. This guide explains all three methods step by step, so on result day you spend your time reading your marks instead of fighting a slow website.

Applies toAll BISE boards (Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sahiwal, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat, Malakand, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan, Quetta, Turbat, Zhob, AJK Mirpur) and FBISE Islamabad

What you needYour examination roll number — printed on your roll number slip
CostWebsite and gazette are free on official sites; SMS carries the standard charges stated in the board's announcement

Method 1 — Check on the board's official website (by roll number)

This is the most complete method: the website shows your full subject-wise marks. It is also the busiest method in the first few hours, so read the "website is slow" section below before result day.

  1. Open your board's official website — type the address yourself or use the board links on our Results page. Never trust a look-alike site that asks for your CNIC or money to "show" a result.
  2. Find the Results section. On result day it is usually featured on the homepage; otherwise look under "Results" or "Online Results" in the menu.
  3. Select your class and examination — for example "SSC Part II (10th) Annual" or "HSSC Part I (1st Year) Annual" — and the year, exactly as printed on your roll number slip.
  4. Enter your roll number carefully. Some boards also offer a "search by name" option on the portal or through the gazette.
  5. Submit and read your marks sheet. Screenshot or print it immediately — if the site goes down later, you will still have your record.

The screen result is for your information. The document that counts for admissions is the official result card / marks certificate issued through your school (for regular candidates) or sent by the board (for private candidates).

Method 2 — Check by SMS

Most boards run an SMS result service on result day, which is the fastest option when the website is overloaded or you have no internet. The pattern is the same almost everywhere: you send your roll number — some boards with a short keyword before it — to the board's official code, and your marks come back by SMS within a few minutes.

Important: Each board has its own SMS code and format, and a board can change it between sessions. Always take the code and format from the board's own result announcement — we publish the verified code inside each board's result post on Pak Edu Point (for example, our BISE Rawalpindi guide and BISE Karachi guide). Never send your roll number to a code shared only in a forwarded WhatsApp message.

Method 3 — Check through the result gazette

Along with the online result, every board issues a result gazette — the complete result of all candidates, usually as a large PDF on the board's website, with printed copies available at the board office and with institutions. The gazette is the best method when:

Download the gazette from the board's official website only, open it, and use the PDF search (Ctrl+F) with your name or roll number.

When the board website is slow or not opening

This happens every single result day, in every board, within minutes of the announcement — lakhs of students open the same page at the same time. Do not panic, and do not keep refreshing non-stop. Instead:

After you have your result

If you passed: collect your official result card from your school or board, keep copies safe, and watch the admission deadlines for the next stage — our university admissions guide explains how that process works.

If a paper went wrong: boards open a rechecking (paper re-count) process after results, and hold supplementary / second-annual examinations for students who fail or want to improve subjects. Both are announced through official notifications with their own forms and last dates — apply only through the board office or its website, and read the board's announcement carefully before paying any fee.

If your name or marks look incorrect in the record: contact your institution first (regular candidates) or the board's result branch directly. Carry your roll number slip and result card with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my CNIC to check a board result?

No. Board results are checked with your examination roll number. Some portals additionally offer name-based search, and the gazette can be searched by name. Any website asking for your CNIC or a fee to show a board result is not official.

I lost my roll number slip. How can I check my result?

Regular students can get their roll number from their school, which receives the complete result of its students. You can also search the official result gazette by name, or use the "search by name" option if your board's portal offers one. As a last resort, visit the board office with your registration details and CNIC.

Is the SMS result final and official?

The SMS service is an official board facility where a board provides one, and it shows your obtained marks. However, the formal document for admissions and records is the official result card / marks certificate issued by the board — always collect and keep that.

What does it mean if my result is not showing?

First, re-check that you selected the correct class, exam (annual/supplementary) and year, and typed the roll number exactly. If it still does not appear, your result may be among the cases a board holds for verification — contact your institution or the board office. Do not rely on any unofficial website's explanation.

Can I improve my marks after the result?

Yes. Boards announce improvement and supplementary examinations after annual results, in which you can re-appear in one or more subjects according to the board's rules. The schedule, form and fee are published in the board's official notification — follow that, not social-media posts.
